The Power of Signage

If you’ve got a business, you want people to know about it. Which means that, big or small, new or established, advertising is key. And, one of the most critical “first impressions” that people will have of your business is based off appearances.

One key aspect of appearances is your signage.

Why, you ask?

Because it’s one of the very first thing your customers see. It’s a huge form of communication (regardless of how much or little verbiage it actually holds) and it’s one that has the ability to spell out who you are and what you have to offer. And, according to the Small Business Association, when a business sign is carefully designed and maintained, the need for other forms of advertising can be substantially reduced.

Gaining visibility and increasing brand recognition are paramount, and achieving said goals can be achieved via the use of effective signage. And, what’s available today is incredibly wide and diverse – businesses can choose from rigid substrate signs (aluminum composite panel, acrylic, etc), vinyl signs, pole banners, feather flags, retractable banners, and more.

Like we stated previously, first impressions count! The manner in which you choose to present your business signage serves as both a first impression for new customers, and as a vivid branding tool for established customers. This also means that businesses absolutely MUST main their signage as well…tattered, worn (or signs with typos…yikes!) can seriously turn off customers…be they prospective or established in nature.

Signage can also help boost your sales because it’s your salesperson out on the street. People don’t have to be in front of your business to be reminded of it – strategically placed signs can keep you in the forefront of people’s minds. However, to ensure this is possible, your signage must be visible. For instance, exterior signage needs to be bold, easy to read from a distance, and relatively simple in nature. Adding tons of detail or words only has the ability to confuse those attempting to read it. It’s also a good idea to make sure your sign is well lit and visible at night.

As stated previously, the types of signs available today is greater than ever before. Exterior signs can be mounted either on the business itself, or on the ground – either of which can take on a variety of shapes and sizes. And, for businesses with limited marketing funds, signs have been found to be a hugely {cost}-effective marketing strategy – much more so than advertising on radio, television, and newspaper. A strategically placed billboard can reach a huge number of individuals, be it morning, noon, or night.

Signs are a hugely essential component to your business’s marketing strategy and can go a long way towards establishing and reinforcing your brand. That’s where Image Inflators, located in Lincoln, Nebraska, comes in to play. 1. Like you mentioned, signage can boost your sales as an always-outdoors salesperson. It reminds me of McDonald’s. When traveling and hungry, the iconic McDonald’s sign is an easy way to find a quick meal and brings in a lot of customers.
